A preview of our next show...

It's Tuesday, so you all know what that means, it's time for the next two hours of excellence- The Sandwich Radio Show. Tim and Brendan have a lot to talk about this week and it will be the best two hours of radio you've ever heard.

As usual we got our weekend box office recap showing how the biggest Hollywood movies faired this weekend. We will be previewing this week's biggest releases mainly- Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and offer up our weekend box office predictions.

We have our weekly dose of television and entertainment news as well.

It's a very exciting week this week in particular because we will be unveiling two new segments on the show. The first is one you will all love and it's called Story time. Story time is going to involve either Tim or Brendan telling hillarious stories from our past that we thought we just had to tell you our listeners.

The next segment is called 'Recasting the classics.' Imagine the 'Dark Knight' with someone other then Heath Ledger as the Joker, well what if that happened. We will be going over some of the biggest Hollywood movies in recent memory and look at them with a completely different cast, it's going to be a lot of fun and make you wonder just how good that movie you loved really would be with someone else playing the main role.

We also have our Best/Worst segment along with the Top 13 Countdown which this week will have Tim and Brendan going over their Top 13 Summer Blockbuster movies, that lets just say had to meet a couple of requirements to pass this list.

So tune into 88.1 FM WLRA The Start or listen online at www.lewisu.edu/wlra this Tuesday from 12pm-2pm. Also chime in on our weekly discussion boards as we want to hear what you guys think about the topics were talking about as well, because we'll give you a shout out!

The Sandwich Radio Show Eats A Baby On The Air?

Protest against the eating of babies by listening to The Sandwich.... the one sandwich we'll never eat is a veal parmesan , because veal is a baby cow... or a calf, if you will.

Right, other than that, listen as we break down the weekend box office figures and throw down our predictions for this upcoming weekend.

We also preview Year One with Jack Black and Michael Cera, who seems like he's kind of turned into a dick....anybody else with me on that one? and The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock.

We also have TV news concerning the fates of Futurama and Chuck as well as My Name is Earl... if you want to know now you can probably just "Google News" it.

We also let you in on the latest movie news concerning the Pirates, Mission Impossible and Lord of the Rings Trilogies.

We let you know what DVDs and CDs are setting up shop in display cases this week and if you should buy.... no you shouldn't, save your money... you're going to have to put your kids through college.

We also have our Best and Worst Movie Franchises along with our Reminiscin' Old School segment where we'll be talking up classic video games... you will lose your mind.

We finish up with our Top 13 Songs That Must Be On Guitar Hero 5 and a preview of the weeks ahead including the debut of two brand new segments.

The Sandwich Preview: Fourth Edition, Volume One

This is going to be better than last week.... maybe.

We will be breaking down the box office figures from this past weekend with the strong showing by The Hangover and the absolute dud by Will Ferrell's latest, The Land of the Lost... we didn't see it and apparently not too many other people did either.

We will review The Hangover, sneak peak.... we loved it (that was written as a whisper, so if you didn't say it like that, go back and reread it correctly in your mind)

We also have on tap the new releases on DVD and CD this week, along with our Best and Worst CDs we ever bought.... that should be very embarrassing for the both of us. Tune in to find out which one of us paid $14.99 for the soundtrack to Gigli.

We finish off the show with Reminisin' Old School as we look back on the terrible music we use to listen to and have now realized that it was garbage, and last but not least....

We each give you the Top 13 Family Guy Random Flashbacks, audio clips included.

So turn the dial to 88.1 fm this Tuesday from 12pm until 2pm.... maybe 2:30, or listen online at www.LewisU.edu/WLRA.

The Sandwich Week 3: Murphy's Law Takes Effect

Okay, so maybe this week was not our best, but it was pretty damn difficult to top the first two weeks. We have to stop setting the bar so high and this week we definitely worked on lowering it.

Granted it was not a bad show, sure we had that 5 or 10 minute jag where it was just laughter and nonsense, but we persevered and got back on our game as we knocked out a damn fine second hour.

The Sandwich this week began, as it always does, with our recap of the weekend box office figures. Tim nailed his predictions as he had the top three spots being filled by UP, Night at the Museum 2 and Terminator Salvation. I had the top two right, but thought Star Trek would stay strong in the third spot. Although it is still in the top 5 and over 210 million now.

1. Up: 68.2 mil, third largest opening for a Pixar movie
2. Night at the Museum 2: 24.3 mil
3. Terminator Salvation: 16.3 mil
4. Drag Me To Hell: 15.6 mil
5. Star Trek: 12.6 mil

Quick question: What does it say about two guys in their early to mid twenties when they are first in line at the movies to see a kid's movie? I'm not sure, but Tim and I were right in the front Saturday night to see Pixar's latest and greatest movie "UP" and it did not disappoint in the least.

Dug obviously steals the movie and his antics are just absolutelySQUIRREL....... Hi There. The first time I saw that in the trailer I nearly wet my pants and Dug was just fantastic. Russell was great and Carl was very easy for me to relate to. I lost my golden retriever to cancer nearly a year ago and maybe for some of you, a dog does not compare to someone's wife, but with Brandy I still find myself trying to hold onto to anything and everything that reminds me of her. Carl does the same in the movie with Ellie and it was very poignant and therapeutic for me to see this movie. I gave it 9 and 1/2 PB&Js out of 5 with 4 Glasses of Milk to wash it down. Great movie. GO SEE IT!

Tim agreed whole-heartedly with me and pointed out the fact that UP was an overall solid movie, with no unneccessary breaks from the plot and played out like a movie should. The music was great and once again, Tim showed his affection for the dim-witted pooch and the oversized bird, Kevin. 5 PB&Js out of 5.

Thankfully we managed to get through that first segment without the fire alrams that were constantly going off distracting us too much. We should have known right then and there that the show was going to be a rough one.

We then launched into our look at the movies being released into theaters this weekend and both of us our pretty excited about The Hangover, starring Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers, YES Man), Zach Galifinakis (Out Cold), Ed Helms (The Office) and Justin Bartha (National Treasure 1 and 2). We will be checking that movie out this weekend, probably friday night and letting you guys know what we think next week.

Tim was kind of lukewarm about going to see the new Will Ferrell movie, Land of the Lost, but I think it looks pretty funny. However, if I can see only one movie this weekend it's going to be Gattica...I mean, The Hangover.

We both agreed that UP will stay at the number one spot this weekend because the Hangover has an R-rating. Watchmen was the last movie with an R-rating to open number one and I don't think the Hangover has that kind of rabid following.
Tim: 1-UP, 2-Land of the Lost, 3-The Hangover
Brendan: 1- UP, 2-The Hangover, 3-Land of the Lost.... although Night at the Museum could stay in the top 3.

During the commercial break, Tim and I left to go see UP again and left two other people who sounded like us and had the same names and opinions as us to take over the show..... jesus, did they really screw it up.

We reviewed the MTV Movie Awards, which were rather unwatchable as it seemed like the production budget was cut in half. They barely showed clips for the categories and at times it was just chaos and awkwardness. Twilight over Dark Knight? Really!?!?!? What is wrong you people?!?!

The only decent parts were Jim Carrey's acceptance speech when you talked about embarassing himself in front of the handsome boy from Twilight and begging California to overturn Prop 8, the Life-Time Achievement Award with Keifer Sutherland crying about Ben Stiller was pretty stellar, but other than that the MTV Movie Awards simply showed the Sascha Baron Cohen is just annoying and the Eminem is just a hate-filled biggot or a closeted homosexual.

After our rants about Sunday's calamity on MTV, we talked about Dick Solomon joining the cast of Dexter as the Trinity Killer... well, not Dick Solomon, but John Lithgow will be in the cast this season. Also, Mykelti Williamson and Freddie Prinze Jr are set to join the cast of 24.

Since we were still at the movies, I don't know exactly what happened during the break, but from what it sounded like when the show was back on the air, our stunt doubles had been drinking a lot of stupid juice and forgot that radio shows should be filled with talking and not breakdowns of laughter and hysteria. Amateurs.

We came back and let the listeners know what DVDs and CDs are dropping this week, crashing the shelves, hitting the storefront, riding the cropduster, scraping the.....okay that's enough, we got it.... and we got it.
DVDs
-He's Just Not That In To You
-Revolutionary Road
-Defiance
-Weeds Season 4
-PrisonBreak Season 4

CDs (even though I don't anyone who has bought a CD in the last year)
-DMB: Big Whiskey, blah blah blah something hip or ironic blah blah blah.... Dave Matthews sucks
-The Debut album from the Super Group ChickenFoot

SQUIRREL!

It seems as though Super Groups are becoming a pretty common trend now with Velvet Revolver and AudioSlave, who have gone by the wayside, but now other groups like Tinted Windows and The Dead Weather are bringing together talent from other already successful bands.

Tinted Windows: James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins, Taylor Hanson from Hanson.... and now MMMBop will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.... great, Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne and Bun E. Carlos from Cheap trick.

The Dead Weather: Alison Mosshart of the Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age, Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs and Jack White of the White Stripes.

With that in mind, we though it would be perfect to head into our Best and Worst segment focusing on Super Groups, who would be the best super group, your dream super group and who would be the worst, the nightmare super group.

Brendan's Best (Modern): Chris Martin of Coldplay, John Mayer, Geddy Lee of Rush and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters.
Tim's Best: Something terrible I'm sure, I was barely listening.
Brendan's Best (Classic): Roger Daltry, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Les Claypool and Ringo Starr
Tim's Best (Classic): Steven Tyler, Neil Pert (Comic Genius, Tim...you are a comic genuis) and two other people I can't remember.
Brendan's Worst: NICKLEBACK. It is always Nickleback....they're just terrible, plus their Canadian, so they lose huge points for that.
Tim's Worst: I can't remember again. Liam Gallagher, Travis Barker and other people.

We took another commercial break and probably should have just ended the show, but we decided to move forward with the disaster that was soon to be the beginning of Reminiscin' Old School.

The first five minutes I could not keep myself together and fell into a fit of laughter, Tim followed suit and the show probably should have gone to commercial, but we stayed strong and made it through and it actually turned out to be a really good segment.

We talked about movies this week and hit on some of the best of our childhood.
The Sword in the Stone
All Dogs Go To Heaven
The Never-Ending Story
The Brave Little Toaster
Babe
The early Batman movies with Michael Keaton
Ferngully
The Rescuers Down Under
The Goonies
The Mighty Ducks
Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Mrs. Doubtfire
Newsies
3 Ninjas
A GOOFY MOVIE (Classic!)
....and a bunch of others.

Tim and I returned from seeing UP just in time to come in and announce our Top 13 Underrated Movies of All-Time, our stunt doubles had gone fetal and were locked in a naked embrace and crying when we walked into the studio. It was quite a sight to behold and somehow, my stunt double is actually hairier than I am..... that is quite a feat.

The Sandwich Week Two Recap

Well, The Sandwich was back for course number two and after receiving some of the highest ratings ever for a show on Lewis University radio, Tim and I managed to top last week's epic performance.

Calling back to our Top 13 of last week (Greatest TV Characters of Our Generation), we thought it would be best to decide what current TV character we would most like to become. I of course went with Peter Petrelli from NBC's hit show Heroes. What other choice could be made? The guy is a sponge who can soak up other people's abilities just by being around them, plus he has a good heart and is always trying to save the world. Tim went a different direction, but stayed on the same network, citing Dwight Schrute from The Office as his dream character. Good choice, Dwight may be wierd, but he is memorable.

After snapping out of our medically induced comas only to realize that our evil twins had taken our place as hosts of the radio show and we bashing great shows like Chuck and 24 were we able to get down to the nitty gritty of our show and jump into the box office recap.
-Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian took in 70 mil
-Terminator Salvation had a mediocre showing with 67 mil in four days
-Star Trek stayed strong with nearly 30 mil more to bring its toal to 191 mil.

Tim reviewed the recent installment of the Terminator franchise, giving it good marks because he unable to see past his Christian Bale man crush and realize that it had a weak storyline.
-4 PB&Js out of 5 for Terminator Salvation

Tim and I differed on our thoughts of Terminator as I saw it as a big disappointment that while loud and packed with action, left me unfulfilled.
-2 1/2 PB&Js

Tim got to crackin' on Night at the Museum deuce and said that while it started slow, it was definitely a must see for those who saw the first one. I on the other hand did not see it, but wanted to after watching the first one over the weekend.
-Tim gives Night at the Museum 3 1/2 PB&Js

Tim and I both got very excited as we dropped our pants and talked about Pixar's newest release, UP, which is coming out this weekend. This movie looks hilarious if not only for Dug, the talking dog. I nearly wet myself the first time I saw the trailer for this movie and cannot wait until saturday when we see it in 3-D.
-UP: Highly reccommended. Go see it!

During the commercial break we regrouped and prepared to fight off numerous decepticons, sadly Megan Fox was not there to assist us, but we did manage to stay the course... a thousand points of light..... stay the course.

Next we previewed the MTV Movie Awards coming up this sunday with our predictions in the major categories.

Best Movie
-Tim: The Dark Knight
-Brendan: The Dark Knight
Other nominees not worth mentioning as we are clearly right on this pick.

Best Male Performance
-Tim: Christian Bale in The Dark Knight
-Brendan: Christian Bale in The Dark Knight
Again, we are clearly correct on this pick as well.

Best Female Performance
-Tim: Wants Anne Hathaway to win for Bride Wars, but believes Kristen Stewart will take it home for Twilight even though she clearly did not act in the movie... unless you monotony as acting...I don't.
-Brendan: Wants Kate Winslet to win for The Reader, but believes the same as Tim. The MTV audience is not very bright.

Best Comedic Performance
-Tim: Jim Carrey in Yes Man
-Brendan: James Franco in Pineapple Express

Best Villain
- How is this even debateable? It is Heath Ledger as the Joker, hands down.

We took a short commercial break where I strategically shaved Tim's initials into my chest hair and for good measure did the same on each one of my ass cheeks. Pics will soon be up on this blog, so look forward to that.

After the break we talked about the American Idol finale, if you need to know anything about that, check out Tim's blog.

Who cares about AI because after the finale we got a sneak preview of Fox's new hit, Glee. It looks to be very entertaining and pretty original. The versions of Don't Stop Believin' and Rehab are pretty damn good and the cast of characters, while not any real recognizable people, still looks to be pretty strong. Check out the preview episode on iTunes for free and while you are there check out the podcast for our show. Just search Lewis University or WLRA.

We touched on the CW's new schedule and cancellations after we were done touching each other......it gets lonely in the studio sometimes. Reaper, Privileged and Everybody Hates Chris have all been canned along with the spinoff of Gossip Girl.

We also talked about movies that have movied from the silver screen to the tube. Madagascar along with Kun Fu Panda and Monsters v. Aliens have all got their own series now and this seems like it will be a continuing trend to capitalize on the success of a smash hit.

We took another commercial break where I realized that I regretted shaving the initials into my body and decided to have all of it waxed off.... look for the video of my agonizing pain to be posted within the next day.

With my chest bleeding profusely and my head getting light we moved quickly into our Best and Worst segment where we looked at some of the most memorable and most forgettable movie cameos.
Tim's Best: Will Ferrell in Wedding Crashers
Tim's Worst: Keith Richards in Pirates of the Carribbean: At World's End, but only because it was spoiled so early on.
Brendan's Best: The beginning of Austin Powers: Goldmember with Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Danny DeVito and Kevin Spacey.
Brendan's Worst: Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder... he was just creepy.

During the commercial break, Tim did a 3 minute head spin that rivaled the likes of Kid Rainen's of the Jabbawockeez in the first season of America's Best Dance Crew.

Reminisin' Old School is just way too difficult to describe, the audio of the show will be posted this week and it is an absolute must listen as we talked about Old School TV shows like:

Are You Afraid of The Dark?, Rugrats, Angry Beavers, Hey! Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, Duck Tales, Salute Your Shorts, All That, Lamb Chops, TMNT, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Doug, CatDog and abuot a thousand more.

We then knocked out our Top 13 Overrated Movies of All-Time.

The Sandwich Debuts on WLRA- Recap

Ladies and gents, if you did not get the chance to check mine and Tim's brand new radio show, The Sandwich, that is okay.... just don't let it happen again.

Luckily, I have got the recap right here for you.

Tim brought in the new era of radio dominance and I declared that we would be on from noon 'til twelve... which either means, we were going to be on for 12 hours or about 59 seconds. I am clearly a winner.

After that speed bump, the show got rolling with our box office weekend recap.
Angels and Demons:46.2 mil
Star Trek: 43 mil
X-Men Origins: 14.7 mil

We both gushed over Star Trek and X-Men and agreed that A&D is probably one to wait for the dvd.

We then launched into a four minute duet of Poker Face by Lady Gaga... it was magical, hypnotic and Tim is now carrying my child. The power of Lady Gaga knows no bounds.

After I fished my underwear out of Tim's mouth and covered up my delicates, Tim let us know what movies were coming out this weekend.
Terminator Salvation
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

Both of us concurred that we would be seeing both movies, probably with each other and in those seats were the armrest comes us so we can spoon. Tim will be the big spoon.

We were ready to get into the recent season finales of 24, The Office and LOST, but President Barack Obama walked into the studio and called me a "cracka" and Tim and "honky." Completely uncalled for Mr. President, but I'm going to let it slide because you are one cool son of a bitch.

Tim and I disagreed about the season finale of 24. I thought it was lackluster and offered no finality whatsoever, meanwhile Tim thought it was great and continued to salivate over his picture of Jack Bauer.

We both loved The Office finale, although we wished it could have been longer........ that's what she said.

As a die-hard LOST fan, I was in awe of the finale and cannot wait until 2010 for the final season. Tim and I discussed how JJ Abrahms must be a descendent of King Midas because everything he touches turns to gold.

During the commercial break, Tim and I cooked hot dogs and hamburgers on a charcoal grill right inside the studio. We were told it was a fire and health hazard, so Tim went Dexter on their asses and there are a few black garbage bags filled with body parts at the bottom of Des Plaines river.

Tim won't tell you that he loves you.
Kiss or hug you.
Cause he's bluffin' with his muffin
He's not lying, he's just stunnin' with his love-glue- gunnin'

The Save Chuck! campaign worked and it is back for another season.
Tim and I ran down the series renewals and cancellations.
Renewed:
-Southland: both agreed it was boring, been movied to fridays. death sentence?
-Parks and Recreation: hilarious, glad it's returning
-Ugly Betty: who cares. moved to fridays. SHE GONE!
-The Cleveland show gets two seasons already?!?!?
-MacFarlane needs to refocus on Family Guy as the show has turned to garbage recently
Cancelled:
Medium: Moms everywhere are devastated.
My Name is Earl: Funny, but not a big loss.
JAY LENO IS A MAJOR DOUCHE!
-Your big fat ego needs five hours of primetime a week.... what a dick!
-Dollhouse gets renewed over Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles? What a Joke
Shows finishing out their runs in the Summer(All shows cancelled):
-Dirty Sexy Money: July 18 @ 9pm ABC
-Eli Stone: June 20 @ 9pm ABC
-Pushing Daisies: May 30 @ 9pm ABC
-Kings: June 13 @ 8pm NBC

Commercial break consists of donut eating contest, Mine That Bird makes an incredible recovery after stumbling out of the gates to finish first with 23 chocolate long johns and 3 1/2 blueberry donut holes. Calvin Boreal vows to switch to different donuts for the next race. He is a front running dick!

BEST and WORST: Movies of '09 so far.

Tim's Best: Star Trek
Brendan's Best: Tyler Perry's Madea goes to Jail....... I'm just kidding, it's I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.
Tim/Brendan's Worst: Observe and report

During the commercial break, Tim finally gives and concedes that Scrubs and Chuck are both far superior to 24 and Heroes. Tim renounces Jack Bauer as his hero and embraces Black Scrubs as his new savior.

Second hour was all Top 13.

What a great show....
